Reflections on a worthwhile excercise
Yesterday I participated in the judging in a first of it's kind event, both for the company putting it on and for me. The guys at Worthwhile had decided to inspire their teams to think about ways to grow their company by proposing and then prototyping or out right developing new applications. The company fielded three teams in the competition and each came up with their own idea, developed the idea into code, created a mini business plan for the idea, and then pitched it to the juding committee. I was amazed at the talent, the diversity of ideas, the depth of their thinking and the professional polish of the presentations. It was a great experience for me as a judge and I got to hang out with Peter Waldschmidt, Dan Rundle, Jonathan Pait, and Mike McCurdy for awhile. More importantly, I got to see a great little company inspiring it's employees to more deeply engage their mission. It was a Worthwhile excercise indeed.
