It's a bird... It's a plane... It's a birthday! Action Comics #1 was first published June 1, 1938. Although Superman had made previous appearances it wasn't until Action Comics that he had a regular monthly home and has been published continuously ever since. Jerry Seigel and Joe Shuster gave birth to the Man of Steel, and Jerry tells how it all happened here. There are a number of sites dedicated to Supes, and the Superman Supersite (http://www.supermansupersite.com/) is one of the best. If you are particularly interested in Superman's Television incarnations, you might want to check out http://www.supermantv.net/. Of course it should be noted that today Superman is owned by DC Comics. A quick perusal of their site doesn't seem to mention his birthday, however. That's OK Kal El, we didn't forget you.
