How do you convert Hi8 and VHS to DVD?


We recently received the following question:



Hi guys, computer question...

I have an iMac 24", with a 2.16Ghz Duo 2 processor and 1 GB of memory and am not sure what is available or what to purchase.

Minimally, I want to capture segments from my Hi8 camcorder and VHS VCR, then burn to DVD. In addition I'd like to capture still frames from either camera or vcr and print as still pictures.

It's all those early kid pictures and movies. What would you recommend?
