Some powerful advice on telling your story in Social Media. (Video)

It was my great pleasure to be Master of Ceremonies at last week's Social Story Conference. I got to do back room interviews with most of the speakers, including Rick Murray of Edelman. Rick leads operations for Edelman in Chicago, and has had a great career in connecting people with brands. He is a firm believer in Social Media's role in the mix, and took a few minutes to answer my questions on how does a little guy compete in the crowded social media marketplace.

Phil Yanov interviews Rick Murray at the Social Story Conference:

Lessons from Rick Murray:

  • Social Media is the Great Equalizer.... Use your passion to make an impact
  • Use YOUR voice... to show people why YOU are different.
  • Go NARROW against your audience. Get INCREDIBLY specific. Become UBIQUITOUS to that audience!
  • If I were a retailer, the number one thing I would be doing? foursquare

Thanks to Trey, Aaron, and the gang for making the event happen, and to Brian Kelly for the video.
